Frequently Asked Questions

How long do we sign up for?

You don’t! There is NO CONTRACT.
If our service is not working for your school or the school is facing funding difficulties then you simply cancel the service with no penalties.

How often do your technicians visit our school?

We will visit your school to assess your ICT equipment and discuss how often you would like us to visit. The choice is yours dependant on your needs and your budget. Our technician will visit your school based on 2 two-hour slots. You can take as many slots as you require, ranging from 2 hours a fortnight to 5 days a week, the choice is yours.

What are your prices?

We charge a standard £26.99 per hour for a regular 2 hours a week slot. We do ask for one term’s advance payment, in all honesty this aids Interm IT with its cash flow, which in turn helps to keep our prices down. If a school decides not to pay in advance then we would invoice weekly.

Can you support hardware like RM CC3?

Interm IT is on the RM ATSS project. We were one of 6 companies nationwide to pilot this scheme for RM, see http://www.rm.com/Primary/CaseStudies/Article.asp?cref=MCASE839375 for more details. As Interm IT are on this scheme we are given access to many areas of technical data currently provided by RM, if a company is not on this scheme then they will only receive standard technical support. ATSS is also involved with SITSS on one of their contract offerings. SITSS offer a Bronze/ATSS contract which involves both SITSS and Interm IT supporting a school together. This contract is cheaper than the sole Bronze contract. Every one of our 19 technicians are CC3 trained and 16 of those are RM CC3 certified engineers.

Can you support RM products other than CC3?

Our staff are well versed on RM Window Box and Storebox. We will also manage the installations of your software. We work closely with both RM and SITSS Support to resolve technical issues. Indeed, one of our technicians is an experienced ex-RM engineer.

In what fields do Interm IT provide support?

We work in primaries, nurseries & special schools. We have a combined technical expertise of over 60 years in education.

What working knowledge of schools does your staff have?

We have a member of staff who is a fully qualified teacher working in schools teaching teachers how to use ICT. One of us is a governor at 2 schools and one part-time member is a Site Manager at a local primary school in Hoddesdon. Our support staff are second to none in their commitment to the needs of their schools.

Do we get the same technician all the time?

Yes, you will have a personal technician who will hopefully form part of your team to provide a valuable historical knowledge of your schools ICT equipment and needs. You are at liberty to change your technician if you feel the technician is not fitting in at your school. We do occasionally have enforced changes to staff but we would keep you informed of any impending changes.

Are your technicians police-checked?

Yes. All Interm IT technicians are CRB checked. We used to be registered with the CRB under the Ref No.21561300005. However, they withdrew our membership as they deemed companies of our size too small to deal with? We now ask some of our schools to provide that service for us.

Do you offer any other services?

We offer FREE telephone & email support.
FREE independent advice on all planning and purchases.
We provide both WIRELESS and NON-WIRELESS networking installations.
We supply high quality branded PCs, laptops, printers & all peripherals. 3 yr onsite warranty (PC’s)
We are an official re-seller of Konica Minolta Printers and Toners (low pricing and 5% cashback)
We supply and fit projectors and the new “i” range of SmartBoards with integral projector.
Offsite repairs for all your PC’s, laptops and printers.

What happens if your technician has nothing to do for part of his visit?

The technician will automatically drop back to carrying out routine maintenance tasks such as error-checking, defragging, anti-virus updating and other maintenance tasks. He will keep himself busy.

Would your technician train any staff on hardware or software?

Our technicians would be delighted to help any member of staff to better their skills so as to improve the educational qualities of the school. All we ask is that the technician is made aware of exactly what training is required in advance just in case the subject may need to be researched.

Does your technician give technical support to staff outside of school?

Yes, in most cases your technician will be delighted to help a member of staff (or indeed parents) in their home. The arrangement is purely between the member of staff/parent and the technician. If your technician cannot help then one of the other technicians would be more than happy to do so.

What things don’t you support?

We will support all of your ICT equipment and software with the exception of SIMS, PDRS or any other MIS software.

Is your company recognised at County?

Yes, we have a good working relationship with SITSS (going back 7 years) in matters relating to ICT in Hertfordshire schools for the common goal of improving ICT support from both sides.

How many schools do you currently support?

Over 200 primaries, nurseries and special schools covered by 19 technicians.

A Number of Questions for You
